It all started in 4th grade when we played volleyball in PE one day. A few months later, I had asked my math teacher to coach a Boys&Girls Club team, which I would create and play on for two years after that. I started playing club volleyball in 5th grade, and I have been the starting right-side hitter on all of the teams I played for. I accumulated awards like "Most Improved" and "Most Dedicated," and probably shagged more balls in my volleyball career than imaginable. Oh and in case I forgot to mention, I'm 5'11" - wildly helpful on a golf course. On many of these teams I was elected captain by both my teammates and coaches, and I love every second of being on a team. This season, my team (SIVBC Thunder) once reached the ranking of 4th in the United States out of all U16 teams, and a couple of the girls on my team have already verbally committed to universities for college volleyball. Being a two-sport athlete presents many challenges, especially when I come home from a four day volleyball tournament and wake up the next morning to play a golf tournament in the cold and wind. However, I believe that this part of my life makes me stronger both mentally and physically. I know how to give my 100% effort to everything I do, manage my time, be on a tight-knit team and manage conflict, and be a pure athlete - not just a golfer. While transitioning my focus from volleyball from golf, I take away the aspects of volleyball that have made me the golfer, person, student, and athlete I am today.
